FAQ
Questions, answered.
Everything founders ask before the first call: who abyssLabs is for, how fixed pricing works, who owns the code and IP, AI prototypes, NDAs, and timelines.
Founders and small firms shipping a focused web product, from pre-seed to early traction. You might have an idea to validate, a prototype to harden, or a live product that has stalled. We pick the work up at whichever point you have reached.
A digital product builder owns the whole outcome, not just the code. We run discovery, design, build, and launch as one team. A dev agency writes the software and hands it back; we also work out with you what to build and how to grow it once it ships.
Yes. AI prototypes get you to a demo fast, then usually break on real users. We harden the prototype, fix the architecture underneath it, and ship it to production as maintainable software your team can own and extend.
You do. On delivery the code, the design, and the intellectual property transfer to you outright, together with the repository and documentation. Third-party and open-source components stay under their own licences.
Every engagement is one fixed price tied to a written scope we agree on the intro call. Discovery is a two-week sprint whose fee is credited in full toward the build. Builds come in three fixed tiers (Lean, Standard, Complex), and Traction runs as fixed-price sprints. You get the exact number in writing after the intro call, before you commit to anything, and it does not move. No hourly meter, no retainer.
Everything needed to launch: infrastructure setup (running costs pass through at cost), the API integration work (API fees pass through), 30 days of post-launch stabilization, and full code and IP transfer. Legal drafting, such as privacy policies and terms, is excluded, and we flag that before we start.
You get the full repository, the documentation, and a proper handover, so your team can run and extend the product without us. If you want help driving growth afterwards, that is a separate engagement you can choose later.
Less than you would expect. A weekly check-in and quick decisions on open questions are usually enough. We surface anything that needs your call early, so nothing stalls waiting on you.
It is a free 30-minute call with no pitch deck. We talk through where your product stands, pressure-test the scope you have in mind, and map the next step, whether that is discovery, delivery, traction, or advice to wait. If we are not the right team for it, we say so.
Fixed scope means fixed expectations, agreed in writing, so both sides know what finished looks like. If the work drifts, we adjust until the agreed outcome ships. If the direction needs to change in a meaningful way, we agree a new scope together before more work starts.
abyssLabs is remote-first. We work European hours with US overlap, and the registered entity is abyssLabs, s.r.o., based in Czechia. The cadence is a weekly call and written updates in between, wherever you are building from.
We are web-first. Most products reach mobile users well through responsive web or a PWA, which we build by default. When a native app genuinely fits the goal, we scope it on the intro call.
We are industry agnostic. We have shipped a two-sided marketplace and a B2B product operating system, and the same approach transfers wherever the problem is well defined. What matters is a real user with a real problem and a founder who can make decisions.
Yes. We treat what you share as confidential by default. If you want an NDA in place first, send us yours or use ours and we will sign it before the call.
Discovery takes two weeks. A Lean MVP lands in three to five weeks, a Standard MVP in eight to twelve, a Complex MVP in twelve to sixteen; larger builds run as staged phases. Traction moves in two-to-three-week sprints. We fix the timeline up front and hold to it.
A proven modern web foundation, built with AI-assisted tooling: Claude, Cursor, Lovable, Figma, Pencil, and Perplexity, with PostHog for analytics and Sentry for error tracking. We choose technology another team can pick up, and you own all of it.
Yes. Discovery, delivery, and traction are scoped and priced separately, and you start wherever your product is. Many begin with the two-week Discovery Sprint; its fee is credited in full toward the build if you continue. Stop after any phase and keep everything it produced.
We agree what good looks like before we start. From day one the product is instrumented with analytics and funnels in PostHog, so decisions come from real user behaviour. Every engagement has a written finish line.
Yes, and we scope exactly how on the intro call. We can take over a prototype or an existing codebase, harden the architecture, and ship it, or work alongside an in-house team on an agreed slice.
Every build includes 30 days of post-launch stabilization, plus the repository, documentation, and a handover your team can run with. After that, growth is optional Traction sprints, each a fixed price agreed before it starts. Continuing is always your call.
Revisions inside the agreed scope are part of the work: we iterate until the deliverables meet the standard we set together at the start. If a request changes the scope in a meaningful way, we say so and agree a new scope together before we build it.
Teams that want to rent developers by the hour, enterprises that need a large vendor with account managers, and ideas without a decision-maker who can commit a few hours a week. If that is your situation, we will point you somewhere better suited on the call.
