Product Discovery
Discovery is our v0.1 engagement: a fixed scope, fixed price sprint that tells you whether an idea is worth building before you spend real money building it. You leave with a validated plan, not a vague hunch. It runs three to six weeks, and it is for founders and small firms with an idea and an unclear scope who want evidence before they commit.
Who it is for
Discovery fits founders who have an idea but no proof yet, and small teams who keep debating scope without ever settling it. If you are not technical and want to understand what to build, or you are hands-on and want to pressure-test your assumptions, this is the place to start. You do not need a deck, a spec, or a budget for a full build. You need a clear question you want answered honestly.
What we do
We talk to your target users, study the competitive landscape, and turn what we learn into a ranked picture of what to build first. We run at least fifteen interviews with real people in your market, map who else is solving the problem and how, and separate the features that users actually want from the ones that only sound good in a meeting. The work is structured, fast, and grounded in evidence rather than opinion.
What you get
You receive a set of clear deliverables: fifteen or more interviews with your target users, the competitive landscape mapped and analyzed, and a feature list ranked by what users want most. Together these become a validated plan you can act on. Every finding is written down and explained, so the value does not walk out the door when the engagement ends.
Timeline
Discovery runs three to six weeks depending on how niche your audience is and how quickly we can reach the right people to interview. We agree the timeline up front and hold to it. There is no open-ended research phase that quietly stretches into months, because the goal is a decision, and decisions need a deadline.
The outcome
The outcome is a validated plan: a clear, evidence-backed view of what to build, for whom, and why it will matter to them. Sometimes the honest answer is that the idea needs to change, or that the timing is wrong, and that is a result worth having before you spend on a build. More often you walk away with conviction and a ranked roadmap ready for delivery.
How pricing works
Discovery is a fixed scope, fixed price engagement, agreed before we start. There is no hourly billing, no retainer, and no surprise invoice at the end. You know exactly what the sprint covers, what it costs, and what you will hold in your hands when it is finished. If you decide to move into delivery afterwards, that is a separate engagement and entirely your choice.
What happens next
The best way to begin is a free thirty-minute intro call, with no pitch deck required. We will talk through where you are, sanity-check whether discovery is the right first step, and map the scope of the sprint. You can reach us at hello@abysslabs.io or book a slot directly at /go/book.
